I grew up in a small town in Ontario, Canada with a large split family. Both my parents were very supportive of all of my crazy dreams over the years, including a go at nursing school, an impromptu nomadic year traveling Australia on my own, living in a cabin in the Canadian Rockies, and numerous other trips around the globe all before I turned 21. But the most surprising adventure of mine was my decision to settle down and move to Santa Barbara after meeting the love of my life and now husband. We continue to travel the world together, but recently we purchased our first home and completely remodeled it mostly ourselves- I handled most of the design and he was the muscle. Turning this dated 1940’s house into a beachy-modern dream home really sparked my interest for interior design so I enrolled in the design program at SBCC with hopes of expanding my formal knowledge and style. Finishing up my first semester, professor Laura Welby has taught me so much about design and really pushed my boundaries of what I thought I was capable of. I love the challenge of creating a design in a style I was previously unfamiliar with and learning something new every day. It is such a great feeling having finally found what I love to do, and I have great plans for my future in this career. After graduation, I hope to start my own design business, specifically in residential design in Santa Barbara.
