Italian-German Needle Work
This gorgeous needle work is made on a velvet background with cotton, linen and metal gold threads somewhere in late 1700s.
It is made for religious purposes.
This piece is not a tie-dye, they die the silk before weaving it. The gold color comes from Zafferan and the background color is Madder red.
It comes in 3 panels.
This silk Ikat must be woven for someone very special. Because tribal people do not have time to make the silk themselves and they are migrating every 6 months, silk has been very expensive material.
