Learn about the fascinating history of King Tutankhamun with your host Michael Kourosh
King Tutankhamun was a pharaoh of the 18th century in ancient Egypt. He was reigning from the age of 9 until his death, around age 19.
In 1922, a water boy, while working on Archaeologist and Egyptalogist Howard Carter‘s excavation of the Valley of Kings, stumbled upon a stone that turned out to be the top of a flight of stairs leading to King Tutankhamen’s tomb.
King Tutankhamun’s tomb was considered the best preserved and most intact pharaonic tomb ever found in the Valley of the Kings. His tomb had four chambers, and he was buried with furniture, clothing, jewelry, gold, and ebony treasures.
After the discovery of King Tutankhamun, a revival of ancient Egyptian style swept the world. Since his name was difficult for many to pronounce, people began to call him King Tut.
Archaeologist Nick Brown tells us about King Tutankhamun’s tomb, what it is like to work on a dig in Egypt, Howard Carter’s legacy, and more fascinating information about ancient Egypt.
