My name is Alexandra Foskey and I moved to Santa Barbara 8 years ago to start classes at Santa Barbara City College. I began working towards transferring to UCSB to complete a Global Studies degree but changed my mind after beginning to work for an interior design showroom and studio called House of Honey 4 years ago. After taking a hiatus from schooling and focusing on work full time I found that Interior Design was more my calling so decided to return to SBCC Fall 2018 to finish my Interior Design A.A.

My time at SBCC has been wonderful and the teachers in the Interior Design and Drafting department are so helpful and extremely encouraging. I’m thankful for their guidance in pursuing a career in Interior Design. I am still developing my own personal design aesthetic but I gravitate towards designing with a narrative in mind whether it comes from a specific color palette, range of patterns or striking focal piece to create a memorable experience in a space.

Carlos unknowingly began his exploration of interior design in 2013 when he was hired at Goleta Valley Paint. After the realization that he was a natural in color selection, he decided to explore the interior design field.

Santa Barbara City College Program Description

Interior design focuses on the creation of interior environments that are both functional and pleasing. The field offers a variety of employment opportunities with interior design and architectural firms, kitchen and bath design studios, as well as with interior materials and furniture stores. As well as, a combination of education, work experience and passing the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) exam is required for interior design professionals.

Furthermore, the Santa Barbara City College Interior Design Program, offered within the Drafting CAD Department, provides comprehensive training for entry-level interior design positions. It is a vocational program, not a transfer program. Certificated, professionally experienced instructors teach all courses.
